Follow the steps below for a successful download experience!

  • Click on the download link:

Once you purchase Plans from Arch. Light, you will be directed to a page that contains a link to your downloadable files. You will also receive an email that has a link to your downloadable files. For security reasons, the link will expire after the time period indicated, so it is best to use it right away. Click on the link and your download will begin. A window will open asking whether you would like to Open or Save the file. You should Save the file to your hard drive. Make a note of the file name and select a location that you will remember later.

  •
  • Expand the zip file:

Arch. Light Plans and Instructions are delivered to your computer in a compressed format called a zip file. Zip files are one of the most popular and practical formats for downloadable products on the internet. Once your download is complete, double click on the zip file and it will expand (or unzip) and create a folder or folders that contain the plans and instructions you ordered.

If you are using an older version of Microsoft Windows, you may need an application called "WinZip" to open the zip file. You can get it free by going to www.winzip.com. Most Macintosh computers come with a program called "Stuffit" which will automatically expand zip files after they are downloaded.

  •
  • Open the Drawings and Instructions with a PDF viewer:

The Plans and Instructions you have downloaded are in Adobe PDF format. If you already have the Adobe Acrobat Reader, simply double click on the files and they will open.

If you do not have the Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer, you can download it for free by clicking on the Get Adobe Reader icon below. Mac OSX users can use "Preview," the built-in PDF viewer that comes with OSX.

  • Arch. Light files are Copyright Protected:

The downloaded Plans and Instructions are copyrighted and may be used only by you, the purchaser. They may not be copied or distributed via email or the internet without the written permission of Arch. Light.

  •
  • Print the downloaded files:

It is recommended that you open and print all of the files that you downloaded. Read the Coversheet first, as it contains an overview of the project and other important information.

The Plans and Instructions can be printed on ordinary 8 1/2" x 11" sheets. They look best when printed on a laser printer at 600 dpi. Other kinds of printers will work too, but you will get optimum results if the printer is set to print at a high resolution.

In order to print the drawings to scale, check the print settings of Acrobat Reader. Under "Page Handling", be sure that "Page Scaling" is set to "None". This will ensure that the sheet is not reduced in size when it is sent by the Acrobat Reader to your printer. Have fun with your project!
